Come "Rock and Bowl" for "Bowl for Kids' Sake" on Saturday, September 27th at SUPERPLAY USA.

“Well it’s one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, now bowl cats, bowl.” If you can name that tune, you may well be taking a stroll in a time warp come Saturday, September 27th as we get ready to “Rock and Bowl” with Bowl for Kids’ Sake to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties. We’re bringing back the fabulous fifties for a day full of poodle skirts, Cherry Cokes, leather jackets and bobby sox, too, and it’s all to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mentoring programs.

Grab your saddle shoes, slick back your hair and join the fun on Saturday, September 27th, at SuperPlay USA, beginning at 9 a.m. There are plenty of opportunities for bowling, fun and games at Bowl for Kids’ Sake, and 1,000 bowlers are expected to join the fun and help a great cause. You don’t have to be a great bowler – or even a good one to join the celebration. In fact, really crummy bowlers are welcomed and celebrated too, especially if they come in costume.

Last year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake Festivities saw Fort Pierce Mayor Bob Benton, Port St. Lucie Vice-Mayor Jack Kelly, Director of Veterans Services, Paul Hiott, Director and St. Lucie County Commissioner Joe Smith embroiled in a ‘hairy’ challenge that cost two of them their mustaches. This year the gauntlet has been thrown down again and whoever wins can either belt out the entirety of Rock Around the Clock in costume (think poodle skirts?) in a very public venue, or can pass that honor on to the loser of the challenge.

The annual event hopes to raise over $100,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters programs and is the largest fundraiser for the organization which provides one-to-one mentoring, reading assistance and helps turn “little moments into big magic.” If you’d like more information, or if you would like to learn how to be a pirate and participate in Bowl for Kids’ Sake at SuperPlay USA, please contact Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Lucie County at (772) 466-8535, or sign up via the link on their website at www.bbbsbigs.org.
